Project:
Two e-Security educational interactives distributed to all Australian schools. Developed for the Australian Government.The primary level module consists of eight interactive activities and a sweet robot-building rewards system. The secondary module contains a simulation game, video centre, & knowledge base.
Tech:
Budd:e was developed in
Flash (
ActionScript 3), incorporating MP3 sound effects and FLV video, and has a custom
PHP /
MySQL account management / progress-saving framework.
Both modules are fully keyboard accessible, screen reader compatible and have text alternatives for all content.
QD:
In addition to being lead programmer, I helped out with the concept development process working with the creative director, writer and designers through all stages of the project. I also did a li'l sound designing.
I worked with government consultants to ensure the project conformed to content, technical and accessibility guidelines.

e-Learning interactives for primary and secondary schools (K-10), containing 28 unique activities.
Us Online addresses topics across cyber-safety, cyber-security and digital citizenship, including social networking, privacy, copyright, online shopping, malware, cyber-bullying, and more.
Tech:
Us Online v2 was developed in
Flash (
ActionScript 3) and the modules are available as
SCORM 2004 compliant packages, using the API to store user input and progress. Outside of
SCORM environments it can utilise a
PostgreSQL or
MySQL database.
All text is externalised to XML, allowing for easy updating and localisation.
QD:
I was involved in the planning, writing, and design stages as I worked in the team to update the existing Us Online, and I also wireframed ideas for new activities.
I programmed several of the activities in
ActionScript 3, including the advanced-level module 'Meme'.

QD:
As sole programmer, I developed a library of
ActionScript 3.0 classes to handle:
- button rollovers
- drop-down menus
- page transitions
- home page navigation
- interactive diagrams
- and FLV loading
in occordance with the designs provided.

CodeIgniter-powered website for Australian film, television and digital media developer Roar Film.
Site contains featured projects, news, showreel, and company history.
QD:
I was the sole programmer on this project, and worked with
Roar to develop a feature-rich site that would still be easy to update.
Developed in
PHP using the
CodeIgniter framework, it uses modified
JavaScript libraries for popups and menu drop-downs, and an embedded FLV player for video.

Project:
CMS website for Mario Laing of Oneness Workshops.
Mario runs spiritual workshops and wanted a web space that would provide information for the workshops, news/blog, and scheduling information linked directly to web based payment.
QD:
I developed a custom
WordPress theme from the ground up including all
PHP/
CSS work and the selection, modification, and integration of
Wordpress plugins necessary to handle image, video, and contact pages.
Web payment was integrated via PayPal.

Designs were provided by a third party: fairly straightforward development of designs into a
PHP/
CSS skin for an
ExpressionEngine installation.
All content is contained within the
ExpressionEngine CMS, allowing for easy maintenance and updating.

In addition to being the lead programmer, I was involved in the planning of the site, as we revamped the previous Roar Educate site to be more intuitive, dynamic, and networked.
I worked with the writer to map out the site structure, and with the designer to wireframe the layout of each section.
